Opening this up wide.....
One selection of a favorite show at a outdoor venue. One you think of right away, no research. Since it's memorial day with nice weather here in LA, I'm looking to be "outdoorsy"

lobster12:

Lake Placid (1983-10-17)

.....dripping with golden light unlike anything I had ever experienced at a GD show; sure did feel like I was outside; Jerry smiling as bright as the sunshine from the opening notes of "Sugaree" through "Revolution"

I always think of Alpine Valley when I think of an outdoor show... One like 6.23.88. Awesome post space.
But then again there is always the Greek Theatre. Check out 8.19.89. Can't go wrong with that one. I still feel it is the best show I ever attended...

It does not get any more "outdoorsy" than this amazing performance!

Check out the hilarious stage banter before a Masons Children that is so blistering hot you better have a fire extinguisher handy...

12/28/69 International Speedway - Hollywood, FL

Black Peter, Me & My Uncle, China Cat Sunflower-> I Know You Rider-> High Time, Cumberland Blues, Good Lovin'-> Drums-> Good Lovin', Cold Rain & Snow, Hard To Handle, Mason's Children, Turn On Your Love Light

Regarding 12-28-69: I am just into the meat of Mason's Children, and at 11:30 there is more than enough meat; it is indeed a "blistering" version as was noted earlier (where is that fire extinguisher when you need it...).

And you have to love Pigpen telling the audience that they will be in "trouble-city" if the amps come falling down on them.

next up: one year earlier...12-29-68.

This is indeed a great one. Along with 12-29-68, a couple of great ones for the deep South.

First one that came to my mind: 7-02-87, Rochester, NY.

A group of us were up front center, and we just had a great time. This is one of those shows that was as memorable for the fun we had as the music that was played.

Sorry, no clicky!

If the Hollywood Bowl counts as "outside", then 8-5 and 8-6, 1971 fill the bill, especially 8/6.

9/10/83 Downs of Santa Fe ain't too bad either (rainbow?).

Under the moonlight at Red Rocks! Had only seen a couple of shows-Greensboro '83, then Hampton spring '84. So swept away that we got on the bus (or should I say rented t-Bird) and cruised out to Colorado!!

A good 3 show run. Check out 6-14-84 Smokin'Shakedown Street and first ever Mr Fantasy!!

6-16-74 is a favorite of mine. Really feels like your at the fairgrounds with the announcements for the kid with the missing parents.
